The National Science Foundation (NSF) and Science magazine created the "Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge" to promote scientific literacy and communication. The "Science as Art" contest at Clemson University has been modeled after the NSF event, with similar categories, rules and formats. All Science as Art entrants are encouraged to submit their work to the Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge as well; the deadline for submission to the NSF is May 31, 2007.
